About the School

AUC School of Business was founded in 2009 with the mission to provide a stimulating learning environment that develops entrepreneurial and responsible global leaders and professionals. Formerly the School of Business, Economics and Communication, the school holds more than 60 years of experience in business education in Egypt, the Arab region and Africa.

Over 55 full-time faculty members holding PhDs from the top business schools in the world demonstrate the school’s excellence in teaching. With more than 400 alumni employed in Fortune 500 companies, the School of Business continues to develop responsible leaders equipped to take on challenges and lead businesses into the future. More than 37,000 alumni are ambassadors for the school’s main pillars -- entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership -- holding top-level posts in private companies, public institutions and the nonprofit sector.

AUC School of Business is recognized as the top private business school in Egypt, as well as being the first in the Arab region and third in Africa to receive triple-crown accreditation from the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The school is among less than one percent of the 14,000 business schools worldwide to achieve triple-crown accreditation.

The global ranking and rating agency Eduniversal has placed AUC School of Business in the highest category of schools, the Five-Palmes League of Excellence, which are universal business schools with a strong global influence.

The school offers executive education and research centers that aim to promote responsible business and management in various fields of marketing, finance, economics management of information systems and entrepreneurship.

Undergraduate Programs

The School of Business takes undergraduates beyond the classroom to understand the practical side of the business world. Students are invited to complete real-life projects with leading global companies and nonprofits while learning from faculty with real-world expertise. The school adopts innovative teaching tools that introduce students to practical applications, including international business simulations, experiential learning and game theory. At the school, students will always get the chance to meet industry leaders in the classroom.

While using case studies in the classroom is a priority to enhance teaching, furthermore, students are encouraged to write high-quality cases and co-publish them with their professors.  El-Khazindar Business Research Case Center (KCC) supports both faculty and student case-writing activities in the school. Moreover, students get access to real-time financial data, professional research tools and leading analytic software replicating a real-life trading room environment at the Citadel Capital Financial Services Center (CCFC).

AUC School of Business believes that practice-oriented teaching and hands on experience are key success factors for our students. Accordingly, the school launched an internship course as a pilot in Fall 2013, and plans to turn this practical experience into a mandatory course in the near future.

Graduate Programs

In Eduniversal’s 2014 - 2015 global rankings, several master's programs achieved top rankings. The Master of Science in finance was ranked number 28 among the global ranking of the Top 100 in Financial Markets. The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program was ranked second in Africa and listed among the top 200 master’s programs worldwide. For the second consecutive year, the Master of Arts in economics was rated number one in Africa. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program was ranked second in Africa and listed among the top 200 master’s programs worldwide.  The MBA program, which started more than three decades ago, was ranked by Forbes Middle East in February 2012 as the first among similar programs in 37 private universities in the Arab world.

The Master of Arts in economics in international development is designed for students who wish to acquire an advanced understanding of the field of development economics. The program adopts a highly interdisciplinary approach as an essential requirement for gaining a broader and more integrated perspective of this dynamic field of study. The program also promotes effective unification of theoretical foundations with the modern applications of policy within the developing world.

The Master of Arts in economics is specifically designed to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation, solid quantitative skills and critical thinking tools necessary to succeed in a world-class doctoral program or advance through the ranks of their chosen professions. In addition, the program’s diverse curriculum and distinguished faculty members help prepare students to become ideal candidates for prestigious and challenging jobs in international, government and private institutions.

For a richer educational experience, MBA students are introduced to highly dynamic courses, such as Selected Topics in Operational Improvement Consulting, which offers students a chance to participate in real-world consulting projects conducted for a client company. The course simulates expected performances in consulting through student participation in a real client operational improvement project, imparting basic conceptual, analytical and technical knowledge for project management and consultancy success.

To guarantee international exposure for MBA students, the school established exchange programs with renowned international schools in the United States. Also, an annual MBA study tour is organized to destinations such as Turkey and Spain, where students visit international companies, factories and attend lectures in selected universities.

With faculty from the Financial Times top 10 universities in the world, the Executive Master of Business Administration offers a globally oriented program, designed for experienced executives. It focuses on integrating innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership in management education. It is a demanding, intensive, but highly rewarding program, which prepares participants to become leaders and provide them with a broader vision to respond to complex business issues in a more comprehensive manner.

Leading international faculty members challenge participants to reflect on their experiences. Live-in weeks at the Kellogg School of Management in the United States and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in China immerse participants in an international setting that transforms their business practice. The Center for Creative Leadership works with each participant to formulate a personal development journey to bring out the best leadership qualities.

The Master of Science in finance and the Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance have been accepted into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. The American University in Cairo is the first in Egypt to have received this form of acknowledgment. The CFA institute grants this recognition to institutions whose degree program(s) incorporate at least 70 percent of the CFA program candidate body of knowledge (CBOK). The institute accepts programs that incorporate the CFA Institute code of ethics and standards of professional conduct in their curriculum and syllabus. Further, the institute promotes and encourages programs that provide effective development for investment professionals.

Executive Education

AUC School of Business has been ranked 680 worldwide in the Financial Times in 2014 list of executive education open-enrollment programs. It is the only school in the MENA region to be recognized in this ranking. By achieving this ranking, the School of Business successfully positions itself on the world map as the first business school in the Middle East “officially” competing amongst the world’s top schools.

Devotion and dedication to continuous improvement led the way to the school’s international accreditation and rankings.
