Out of a firm belief in the role of civil society and multi-stakeholder engagement in the creation of sustainable societies in the MENA region, the Business and Society Research Cluster at the German University in Cairo, Al-Khazindar Business Research and Case Center (KCC) at The American University in Cairo, and Misr El-Kheir Foundation, Egypt have hosted the region’s first case studies conference titled "Toward a Sustainable Society in the MENA Region: Roadmap and Priorities," which took place at the Dusit Thani hotel, New Cairo, on March 1 and 2,
2012. The conference sponsors included the Arab African International Bank, AUC’s John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement, Vodafone, Savola Group and the International Association for Business and Society , among others. [Read more]
KCC - McKinsey and Company Case Solving Competition 2010
El-Khazindar Business Research and Case Center at The American University in Cairo organized a case-solving competition in partnership with McKinsey and Company, the world renowned business consulting firm which serves more than 70 percent of Fortune Magazine’s most esteemed list of companies. The competition involved 28 undergraduate students from the School of Business at AUC. On November 23, 2010, prior to the competition, McKinsey organized a training workshop involving six of their consultants, where the seven participating teams (composed of four students each), were provided with practice on problem-solving techniques. KCC National Case Writing Competition Fall 2010
On Wednesday, November 10, 2010, El-Khazindar Business Research and Case Center (KCC) organized under the supervision of the center’s director Ahmed Tolba, assistant professor of marketing at AUC, the closing ceremony of the first national case-writing competition. Business undergraduate students from AUC as well as other universities participated in this competition, which was held under the theme of Entrepreneurship. The event was attended by several professors and students from the AUC and other participating universities. Professor Tolba started the event by introducing the center's activities and accomplishments and then he announced the winning cases. The best cases prizes were as follows: LE 3,000, LE 2,000 and LE1,000 for the first three places. Last but not least, Professor Tolba concluded by motivating the students to develop more cases in the future, stressing the fact that the qualified ones will get the chance of being published at KCC. After its success, the center aims at holding this event every semester on the national level, and is planning to hold it regionally in the coming future.

Mehdi Khosrow-Pour (DBA) received his Doctorate in Business Administration from the Nova Southeastern University. Khosrow-Pour taught undergraduate and graduate information system courses at the Pennsylvania State University – Harrisburg for 20 years where he was the chair of the Information Systems Department for 14 years. He is currently president and publisher of IGI Global, an international academic publishing house. He also serves as executive director of the Information Resources Management Association (IRMA), and executive director of the World Forgotten Children’s Foundation. He is the author/editor of over twenty books in information technology management. He is also the editor-in-chief of the Information Resources Management Journal, the Journal of Cases on Information Technology, the Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organizations, and the Journal of Information Technology Research, and has authored more than 50 articles published in various conference proceedings and journals.
