AUC School of Business Is Pleased to Announce the Appointment of Nizar Becheikh as Interim Dean

Dr. Becheikh joined AUC in 2011 contributing significantly to the School’s advancement through the range of roles he played including imperative teaching of strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship; serving as advisor to the MBA programs’ Director in 2011; appointment as Associate Chair of the Department of Management in 2012; to his most recent role as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research since 2013. 
Sherif Sedky, Provost of The American University in Cairo, highlights the depth of experience Dr. Becheikh possessed within the School “during his tenure as Associate Dean, Dr. Becheikh reshaped the research environment in the School to enhance research productivity as well as external funding that exceeded $1 M in 2016. In addition, Dr. Becheikh has contributed to several strategic initiatives at both the school and university level.”
On taking on this important role Dr. Becheikh commented “It is a real honor for me to serve as Interim Dean of one of the most prestigious business schools in the region and beyond. I look forward to continuing the journey of excellence with all constituents for the benefit of our School, our AUC, and our beloved country and region”. Emphasizing the path of the School during and beyond this transitional period he stated that “Several initiatives are already in the pipeline. Our commitment to excellence will not change. Our keywords will continue to be quality and impact in all what we do. There will be no compromise on our commitment to internationalization, to innovative teaching, to glocalized curricula, to quality research, and to quality assessment at all levels in order to enable the School achieve its full potential.” 
Dr. Becheikh received a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business from Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Tunis (Tunisia). He earned an MBA in International Management and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Laval University (Canada). During his time in Canada, Dr. Becheikh worked closely, as part of R&D and consulting projects, with managers and policy makers from several Canadian SMEs, public organizations, and governmental agencies intended to foster innovation and regional economic development in Canada. He published his research in top-tier academic journals and prestigious conferences such as Technovation, the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, the Academy of Management meeting, the International Association for management of Technology (IAMOT), and the Danish Research Unit for Industrial Dynamics (DRUID). 
Dr. Becheikh teaches Strategy, Innovation Management, and Entrepreneurship at the undergraduate and the (Executive) MBA programs. His current research interests focus on (open) innovation in manufacturing and service sectors, (open) innovation paths and best practices in LDCs, entrepreneurship in developing countries, and managing growth and innovation in SMEs.
