Ma'an Arab University Alliance Maan Social Entrepreneurship Competition 2018 brings together students from Egypt

Ma'an Arab University Alliance Maan Social Entrepreneurship Competition 2018 took place on October 10, 2018, targeting university students all across Egypt at The American University in Cairo. The competition tacked the topics of energy saving and chemical and packaging losses. 
The Social Entrepreneurship Competition called for Egyptian university students from across the country to share their innovative ideas with over 120 participants partaking in the competition. 

1st place went to "Chitosan" Zewail City University students team: Hoda Hammad and  Alaa-Eldin Elozeiri, second place went to "Pioneer" Benha University student team: Ibrahim Muhammed, Abdel Halim Salah, Baher Ahmed and Esraa El Sayed El Ghazaly while third place went to "Delta oil" Alexandria University team: Mahmoud El Jendy, Omar El Jendy, Serag Mousa and Karim Salah

Diaa Noureldin, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research praises the initiative stating that “The Ma’an Social Entrepreneurship Competition is a great example of a collaborative effort with the private sector, independent experts and other universities in Egypt to address issues of societal concern, while also nurturing entrepreneurial ideas with clear economic and social impact.” 

The competition is a joint effort between John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy, Civic Engagement and Responsible Business and strategic investment giant Savola Group featuring youth from all over Egypt. The partnership aims to foster interest in local manufacturing by giving university students around the country a platform to present their innovative ideas, all with an aim of contributing positive value to society while granting participants the skills that they will need in the job market along the way.
