48th African Journalist Workshop

The Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism and the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized the 48th African Journalists Workshop in association with the Union of African Journalists on December 5, 2016. The journalists who attended the one-day workshop came from 20 countries across Africa namely Angola, Botswana, Chad, Cote d’ Ivoire, Democratic of Congo, Djibouti, Gabon,Keny a, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, South Sudan,Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The workshop covered topics related to print media research, social media and news gathering and print media management by Hussein Amin, professor and director of the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism; Kim Fox, associate professor of practice in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication; and Rasha Allam, assistant professor in the  Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.  The training program was started in 1992 under the supervision of Hussein Amin and has now developed into a network of journalists who have been trained at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the American University in Cairo, and work all over African media.
