On February 1, 2017, Dr. Hussein Amin, Director of the Kamal Adham Center for
Television and Digital Journalism in the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the American University in Cairo, signed a cooperation protocol with Dr. Maya Morsi, President of The National Council for Women, to initiate cooperation between the two institutions with regard to women’s development.
Dr. Amin praised the Council efforts to improve the conditions of Egyptian women, pointing to the importance of 2017, recently declared as Year of the Egyptian Woman, and stressing that institutional cooperation across all fields is vital to demonstrate their positive contributions and critical role in society.
Dr. Morsi expressed her great happiness with the Protocol, which was drafted with the intention of carrying out various activities toward capacity building and skills development for women, including the launching of development programs targeting women in the fields of media and politics. In addition, the two sides agreed on producing joint Public Service Announcements (PSA) aimed at raising awareness of women’s issues and their role in society. The PSAs will be aired on a variety of media channels throughout the coming year.
