AUC’s multimedia journalism alumnus Abdallah Abdeldayem has received the bronze award at the New York Festival World's Best Radio Programs 2017 for an audio documentary that he produced as a student at AUC.
The documentary, for which Abdeldayem won in the “best student documentary” category, was part of his coursework in Professor Kim Fox’s audio production course in Fall 2016.
His work, titled More Than Just a Game, narrates the reality of professional video gaming in Egypt. It explores the conflicts emanating from their personal lives and their passion for gaming.
Since 2010, AUC students have frequently won awards for their multimedia projects and audio productions.
In 2017 alone, there has been 11 international awards and recognitions for students’ work.
Most recently, in April, JRMC alumna Yasmine Hassan won first place in the US Society of Professional Journalists’ (SPJ) Region 7 Mark of Excellence (MOE) competition for her for her multimedia project on Egypt’s pound flotation.
Her fellow JRMC alumna Safaa Magdy won in the 2016-2017 NBS-AERho’s National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition for her audio documentary, The Quest: Where do Muslims Fit the Best?
