Marking 70 years since the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 181 on November 29th, 1947, which partitioned Palestine, Dr. Nabil Elaraby contributed an essay to the GAPP Policy Brief Series entitled “The failed legacy of resolution 181: Sacrificing Palestinian rights for political expediency”.
The article explores the legal implications of the resolution and its consequences on the Question of Palestine and the region as a whole.
Dr. Nabil Elaraby is the former Secretary General of the Arab League, former Foreign Minister of Egypt, a former Judge on the International Court of Justice and the former Permanent Representative of Egypt to the UN in New York and Geneva. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of GAPP. He was assisted in developing the essay by Ms. Jessie Steinhauer, a fellow at MESC
