Off-Campus Access

How to Access

To access AUC subscription resources from off-campus, users will be able to access all electronic resources by way of their AUC email username and password.

Authorized Users

The AUC Library subscribes to a large collection of electronic resources, including electronic journals, books, indexes, abstracts and statistical databases. Authorized users may access most of these resources from any Internet connection in Cairo, Egypt or the world.

The library's license agreements permit off-campus access to the following categories of users holding a valid AUC ID card:

  • Currently enrolled AUC undergraduate and graduate students
  • Current AUC faculty members
  • Adjunct AUC faculty members
  • AUC emeritus professors
  • Current AUC full-time staff members
  • Current SCE Full-time faculty members

AUC graduate students who are actively working on their thesis, but not enrolled, may request off-campus access for one semester. The graduate student’s thesis adviser must submit an email to, stating the student’s name and AUC ID number. The adviser must confirm that the student is working on his/her thesis, though not enrolled. At the end of the semester, access will be terminated. Access will be restored when the student registers again.

AUC faculty and staff members on an approved leave-of-absence may request off-campus
access for up to one year. The requester’s department head must submit an email to stating the employee’s name and AUC ID number, and confirming his/her last work date and return to work date. The department head must also email if the employee’s status or leave changes.

Not Authorized Users

By license agreement, the library is not permitted to provide off-campus access to the following categories of users. However, the users are permitted to on-campus access using only the library PCs and asking the help desk for a username and password.

  • SCE part-time faculty or staff members
  • SCE students
