Reserve Guidelines for University Faculty

How to place materials on reserve

Reserve requests should be submitted on the appropriate forms:

Hard copies of the form can be picked up from the reserve desk and should be completed and submitted to the same desk.
Request forms should be submitted at least 15 days before the beginning of the semester to ensure that material is available in time for classes. Reserve requests are processed in the order received.

Textbooks

One copy of every textbook available at the AUC Bookstore will be placed on reserve one month after the beginning of each semester.

Book Order Requests

To request the purchase of titles for reserve, submit a Library Book Order Request Form, approved by your department head. Please be advised that it may take up to six months to obtain an item from outside Egypt. The instructor will be notified when the item is received.

Journal Article Requests

Journals will not be placed on reserve, however photocopies or reprints of articles may be used instead. Items photocopied and supplied by an instructor (in accordance with copyright law) are given priority in processing over items photocopied by the library.

e-Books

If an instructor request an book to be put on reserve, which is already held in print and electronic formats, the Library will automatically include a link to the e-book version in the reserves list.
