A Seminar entitled Muslim Family Law: A Women’s Rights Perspective
January 12, 2010. This seminar was organized by SRC in cooperation with The GTZ-assisted Project for Promotion of Women’s Rights and The Network for Women’s Rights Organization in Egypt. The workshop was part of the activities undertaken by the SRC research project, headed by SRC Faculty Dr. Mulki Al-Sharmani, and which studies reforms in Egyptian personal status laws in the last decade and their impact on Egyptian women. This workshop is part of the the project “Pathways of Women’s Empowerment Research Program consortium-Research” between SRC and The Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK. The Workshop organized in collaboration with The Population Council and aimed to formulate relevant research questions around the thems of gender and work and possible use of data

A one-day conference entitled Rural Responses to Globalization in Egypt,  May 22, 2007. This conference held to mark the ending of the Ford Foundation-supported research project
 
A workshop entitled  Health Equity in Arab Countries: Policy Relevant Research held during 28 April-4 May, 2007. This workshop aiming  to encourage policy relevant health research with an equity lens using existing datasets in the EMRO region (e.g. DHS, PAPCHILD/PAPFAM, WHS).  The workshop focuses on discussing recent conceptual and methodological developments that allow improved diagnosis of health inequity and provide guidelines to policy makers. This workshop is a preparatory phase for a regional seminar entitled “Health Equity: Current Knowledge and Evidence.”   This seminar is a collaborative effort of the International Union for the Scientific Studies in Population (IUSSP), WHO  Eastern Medditerranean Regional Office(EMRO), and the Social Research Center (SRC) to be held in Mid November 2007

An international advisory group for Urban Inequity Study meeting held in July 25-26, 2006. This meeting is part of the activities between the SRC and United Nations Human Settlements Program Monitoring System Branch

A workshop entitled The Social Determinants of Health and Health Equity in the EMR/MENA Region held in June 5-7, 2006. This workshop was organized by the Social Research Center and the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of WHO. The main objective of the workshop is to provide a forum for the development of a regional perspective on Health Equity issues and their policy implications.  The workshop also aims to discuss future endeavors for improving knowledge base on health and health inequities in the EMR
